In 2011, she produced her first entirely self-written album, O Micróbio do Samba, whose title alludes to an expression by her fellow countryman Lupicínio Rodrigues. This special encounter between three prominent names in the Brazilian artistic scene will offer a journey through sounds and elements of Brazilian and Portuguese poetry and culture which unfold in their networks of subtleties and complexities, highlighted through cultural encounters over various periods.
In their performances, the artists highlight not only unique aspects of Brazilian poetic and musical identity, such as the permeability between the classical and the popular, music and literature, but also dialogues with Portuguese poetry, which run through the songbook.
The repertoire includes works by Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, Milton Nascimento and Caetano Veloso, Baden Powell, Arnaldo Antunes, as well as original songs by Adriana Calcanhotto and José Miguel Wisnik and dialogues with Portuguese poets Luiz Vaz de Camões, Fernando Pessoa, Mário de Sá-Carneiro, Adília Lopes, and Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão.
This event is part of the complementary programme for the exhibition complexo brasil, curated by José Miguel Wisnik, Guilherme Wisnik and Milena Britto.
