The year 2022 marks the centenary of the birth of artist Iannis Xenakis (Romania, 1922 – France, 2001), a composer, theorist, mathematician, architect and engineer who was prominent in the 20th-century art world. The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is commemorating this anniversary by presenting six works commissioned to the artist and an exhibition focusing on the architectures of sound that Xenakis created over the course of his career. This project is a co-production with the Philharmonie de Paris and stems from a partnership between the Centro de Arte Moderna, Gulbenkian Music and the Gulbenkian Culture Programme.
