Formed from the Batukadeiras Orchestra of Portugal, the Batukadeiras X group is a group of women that perform batuque pieces – one of the oldest musical and dance styles of Cape Verde, performed almost exclusively by women. In 2019, they were invited to participate in Madonna’s single “Batuka”, accompanying the American singer on tour.
