Mbye Ebrima is a kora player, singer, songwriter and storyteller. He was born in the Gambia to a djéli family – kora players and renowned disseminators of mandiga-kaabunké oral history going back many generations. Following a grand tour of Europe, he performed in a wide variety of venues and festivals. In 2015 he took up residence in Portugal, where he has collaborated with musicians including Selma Uamusse, Moullinex and Kimi Djabaté. Ebrima is currently recording two albums, a solo project and one with the band.

This performance is part of the Summer Garden festival, which presents this year a transdisciplinary and eclectic programme, curated by Lisboa Criola – Dino D’Santiago, that explores several forms of artistic expression.
