Banda Monte Cara

Summer Garden 2022

Event Slider

Opening in 1976, Monte Cara was not only the first Lisbon club dedicated to African culture; it was (and still is) a true laboratory of the Cape Verdean musical movement. In homage of this space, Alcides Nascimento, Leonel Almeida, Manuel Paris, Zé António and Toy Paris formed the Monte Cara Band to record an EP which recovers part of the repertoire performed by these same musicians on Monte Cara’s stage.

Summer Garden

This performance is part of the Summer Garden festival, which presents this year a transdisciplinary and eclectic programme, curated by Lisboa Criola – Dino D’Santiago, that explores several forms of artistic expression.
