“It was a revolution”, “a project that brought innovation” to schools across the country that “today are working with the same curriculum”. The many testimonies gathered in the various locations shown in this film are an example of the work to revise the curriculum in five subjects that began more than ten years ago. The materials have finally reached the schools and it is with great joy that teachers, coordinators, headmasters and all the partners, in Guinea-Bissau and Portugal, talk about this project, which they hope “will change the country”, because “investing in education is investing in all sectors of society”.

This is a project of the Ministry of Education of Guinea-Bissau, coordinated by the National Institute for the Development of Education of Guinea-Bissau, the World Bank, UNICEF, the University of Minho and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

The RECEB project – Curricular reform of basic education in Guinea-Bissau began in 2015 and consisted of drawing up the guiding document for the reform, the programmes or syllabus guidelines for the five subjects of the 1st cycle (1st to 4th grades).
