Senegalese singer-songwriter Momi Maiga brings the kora to the stage of the Grand Auditorium, kicking off the second day of the Summer Garden with an unforgettable concert.

Raised in the Casamance region of southern Senegal, Momi Maiga comes from the famous Cissokho family of musicians. His artistic legacy, following the ancestral heritage of the griots (storytellers, keepers of traditions), links him deeply to the traditions of the Mandés.

At just 26 years old, he stands out as a kora virtuoso, a skilful vocalist and a self-taught composer with a remarkable musical sensibility. In his compositions, he mixes ethnic Jazz, Flamenco and touches of European Classical Music, singing mainly in Mandinga and Wolof.

At the end of 2022, he released his debut album, Nio, which took him to several international stages. In October 2024, he presented his second album, Kairo, the title of which means ‘peace’ in Mandinka, his mother tongue.

About the concerts

This year, the Summer Garden invites us to embark on a journey of sound where the soul dances and the body recognises itself.
From Fado to Funaná, from Semba to Gumbé, from Axé to Mbalax, passing through the eternity of Soul Music — each rhythm will be a compass and each song a territory.

To the sound of these ancestral and contemporary beats, we will land in the living imagination of countries such as Senegal, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Angola, Brazil and Portugal.
Places where time becomes a drum and memory is sung with eyes closed.

A true celebration of what unites us: the pulse of freedom that resists, persists and insists on being a party.
