Location
Studio Centro de Arte Moderna GulbenkianWhy have we been drawing on walls for thousands of years?
Are these traces transgression or art, communication or occupation? Can disobedience be legitimate?
In this performance, illustrator António Jorge Gonçalves guides us, with words and drawings, through the scratches that hunter-gatherers made on rocks 30,000 years ago, the notes drawn by the Romans on the walls of houses in Pompeii, and the Mexican murals of 100 years ago, while MC and activist Flávio Almada aka LBC Soldjah takes us, with words and music, to the social contradictions of our cities.
All this so that we can understand the spray-can paintings that fill our walls with awe.
