Filmed between September and December 2015, Ex-libris shows the various spaces of the New York Public Library, spread across Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island, depicting the various activities it carries out, from book clubs to braille classes to administrative meetings.
One of the most democratic institutions in the United States, the library aims to be a resource for all the inhabitants of this multifaceted and cosmopolitan city, promoting knowledge, strengthening a sense of belonging and inspiring community learning.

Biographies

Pedro Mexia
Literary critic and columnist for Expresso and co-author of a political commentary program on SIC Notícias. A cultural advisor to the President of the Republic, he previously served as deputy director and interim director of Cinemateca. He has published volumes of chronicles, diaries, poetry and theater, and won the Grand Prize for Chronicles from the Portuguese Writers’ Association. He is co-director of Granta in Portuguese and coordinates Tinta-da-china’s poetry collection.
