In Human Resources, Gisela Casimiro looks back on the time she worked at a fast-food chain – a time when “the cheapest meat on the market is black meat,” as immortalised by the voice of Elza Soares.
Twenty years later, what is the state of affairs? Has the job market evolved and changed, or do the old patterns continue to repeat themselves, despite being dressed up in new guises?
In this talk, Gisela Casimiro, the writer of this episode, Nuna, the actress who plays Taís, and Flávio Almada, the activist, creator, and facilitator of training workshops for young people who will bring more facts than perceptions to the conversation, will not shy away from difficult questions, addressing all kinds of topics, from opportunities and access to the much-proclaimed – and so often illusory – meritocracy. The talk will be moderated by journalist Vitor Belanciano.
About the series
Novas Narrativas de Caça is an anthology comprising seven independent stories, linked by their theme – the search for identity and belonging among Black characters, Portuguese people of African descent who struggle to find their place in a society that often ignores and oppresses them. “Until lions tell their own stories, hunters will always be the heroes of the hunting narratives.”
