The IGC Schools Programme reached 20 more 5th grade students from Aquilino Ribeiro School. With an interactive talk Romana Yáñez, a PhD student from the Plant Molecular Biology group (Paula Duque) shared her experience to pursue a scientific career.
The students were delighted with Romana’s life path and with the plants she showed them. The class was very curious and asked several questions: “How do plants get stressed?” and “Do mice have cancer?”
With this activity the IGC aims to have inspired the younger ones to always remain curious, to never give up in the face of challenges and to pursue what really excites them! Also this was an opportunity to show how scientists are common people and that they can pursue this career if they want to!
