Oeiras Marina is the chosen venue for the European Researchers’ Night. The initiative, part of the REGGAE project (Researchers for European Green Growth and Education) aims to bring together researchers and those interested in science, with the aim of demystifying the work of scientists and bringing it closer to the general public.

In 2021, within the scope of the Oeiras Ciência Aberta project, ITQB-NOVA and Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência join Ciência Viva – National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture and the Health Research and Innovation Institute of the University of Porto (i3S) to carry out the first edition of the European Researchers’ Night in Oeiras.

The initiative will take place at Oeiras Marina on September 24th and in other 21 locations throughout the country. The program will offer games, debates, demonstrations, workshops, conversations, among many other activities, for audiences of all ages.

The European Researchers’ Night will count with the presence of several scientific institutions in the municipality, which will have the opportunity to present the research they develop. Activities may address areas as diverse as the circular economy, biodiversity, climate or clean energy, among others, related to the theme of the European Ecological Pact.

The European Researchers’ Night is an initiative promoted and financed by the European Commission, under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. It is held annually on the last Friday of September and its main objective is to demystify the research and work of scientists.
