NOS Alive and IGC
The partnership between the IGC and Everything is New, the organizer of NOS Alive music festival, aims to bring science closer to society and to raise funds for scientific research. This unique partnership, established in 2007, is a good example of how the private sector and society in general may contribute to the progress of research.
During this major music and art event, the main activities in the IGC stand have been speed-dating with scientists, DNA extraction from strawberries, molecular cooking, Biodiversity and Evolution games, and bio-art and photo exhibitions. Every year, around 45 IGC volunteers make these activities possible. On average, we receive more than 1000 visitors per year.
NOS Alive – IGC Fellowships
Everything is New also generously supports the IGC with 2 NOS Alive-IGC research fellowships per year in different fields, such as Biodiversity, Genetics, Evolution, Computational Biology and Microbiology. These fellowships are for young graduates wishing to pursue scientific careers.
Since 2009, over 450 young graduates around the country have applied to these fellowships.
