Job Shadowing

Job Shadowing – What if I were a scientist?

The Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência programme “Job Shadowing – What if I were a scientist?” offers the opportunity for 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students to participate in an online session with a scientist, by videoconference.

For 1 hour, students can talk to a scientist and ask all the questions they have about science in general, the day-to-day life of a scientist, the academic path of scientists, the scientific research that is done at the institutes, etc. In this session, the main objective is to help students understand whether they would like (or not) to pursue a career in science. Each session will have the participation of a scientist and a maximum of 20 students.

During the academic year 2020/2021, the program “Job Shadowing – What if I were a scientist?” will take place on the days:

The IGC Job Shadowing programme aims to help high school students (11th and 12th grade) to explore the skills needed for scientist work, so that they make an informed career choice. For a day, students accompany an IGC scientist in order to learn more about science and scientific research. This program takes place during the school holidays of Christmas, Easter and Summer.

During the academic year 2020/2021, the program “Job Shadowing – Scientist for a Day” will take place on the days:

  • 21 December 2020 (10h – 17h)
