Position levels considered
Independent Fellows
Fellows are independent early-career scientists (PhD, max 3 years after PhD). Fellows join the IGC to develop an original research program with complete scientific independence. They will be provided with a start-up package, negotiated on a case-by-case basis. This includes including 1 support positions (technician or postdoc). Fellows have full access to the IGC infrastructure and services. Fellows have access to PhD students from the IBB program when supervision is joined with another IGC PI.
Fellows are offered an initial 3-year appointment, renewable to up to 5 years. Upon their first evaluation, fellows can apply for and be promoted to a full Principal Investigator position. Fellows are encouraged to apply for competitive extramural funding.
Principal Investigators
Principal Investigators are independent scientists with a strong track record wishing to develop ambitious research programs with complete scientific independence. They will be provided with a start-up package, negotiated on a case-by-case basis. This includes 2 support positions (technician and/or postdoc).
Principal Investigators have full access to IGC infrastructure and services. Principal Investigators have full access to PhD students from the IBB program. Principal investigators are offered an initial 5-year appointment with the possibility of extension to up to 9 years, upon international evaluation. Principal Investigators are encouraged to apply for competitive extramural funding.
