“Charlie was a pioneer in the development of an animal model for Hepatitis C”
In 2020 the Nobel Prize was awarded jointly to Harvey J. Alter, Michael Houghton and Charles M. Rice “for the discovery of Hepatitis C virus”. Early in 2008, biologist from IGC Public Engagement unit Joana Loureiro , joined the Center for the Study of Hepatitis C, in the Rice Lab (Rockefeller University) in New York, as a postdoc.
