Lab in a Suitcase grows wings

Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Angola, Cape Verde and São Tomé receive the first Lab in a Suitcase, after training sessions at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência, the kits will allow representatives of the institutions to disseminate science in Portuguese-speaking countries and all around the world.

The Lab in a Suitcase is a low-cost, portable, and easy-to-maintain experimental kit that allows to conduct educational and scientific research activities independently, designed to advance science and make it more accessible. It was fully designed and developed by several teams of IGC researchers.

The Lab in a Suitcase training plan, led by IGC researchers, focused on the practical aspect of assembling and using the experimental kit. The 10 representatives showed enthusiasm during the training, but above all for the opportunity to bring science to their universities, NGOs or schools.

This is a project that is part of the IGC’s mission to bring science closer to society, which aims to promote the democratization of science. Developed by the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência, it has the support of the Merck Family Foundation and the Municipality of Oeiras.
