The first edition of the European Researchers’ Night of Oeiras took place on the 24th of September, at Oeiras Marina.
The initiative was promoted by ITQB-NOVA in partnership with the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC) and Oeiras Municipality, within the scope of the Ciência Aberta a Oeiras project.
Several institutions from Oeiras were present, promoting games, debates, demonstrations, workshops, talks and other activities for audiences of all ages. The event was well attended by the public, who had the opportunity to contact with scientists and learn more about the science that is done in the municipality.
The European Researchers’ Night aims to bring citizens closer to science and has been held since 2005 across Europe, in more than 300 cities. It is an initiative of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, funded by the European Commission, to demystify research and the work of scientists.
