Élio Sucena is a biologist interested in genetics and evolutionary biology.

 He got this degree from Lisbon University and his PhD from the University of Cambrige.

 He is Group Leader at the IGC since 2004 where he runs the “Evolution and Development” laboratory, and has   been a Professor of the Animal Biology Department of the University of Lisbon since 2006.

 At IGC, he also acts as   Director of the PhD Programme since 2013 and as Deputy Director for Science since   February 2018.
