“Inspiring Science – Bioinformatics” is a 12h theoretical-practical workshop aimed at Secondary Biology Teachers (recruitment group 520). The 2020 edition will occur on 2, 3, 9 and 10 December, from 5pm to 8 pm, in e-learning format.

The main goal of this workshop is to update teachers in theoretical and practical Bioinformatics content. The workshop will introduce Bioinformatics as a science-technology field and will explore open access Bioinformatics tools that can be used in the classroom as a way to promote experimental teaching in Biology, and to develop students’ critical thinking.  

Trainers will be IGC scientists and technicians with vast experience in Bioinformatics. This workshop will run in Portuguese. The complete programme of the workshop can be consulted here.

The “Inspiring Science – Bioinformatics” workshop is certified by Conselho Científico-Pedagógico da Formação Contínua do Ministério da Educação e Ciência (Centro de Formação de Escolas do Concelho de Oeiras).

Applications must be formalized by filling in the registration form and sending it to [email protected]  by 20 November 2020.

Fee: 10€.

Note: The fee for teachers from Oeiras Municipality is covered by the Oeiras City Hall, under the Project “Open Science to Oeiras”.

Instructions for payment will be sent to the selected trainees. Attendance to this course is limited to a maximum of 20 trainees.
