Inspired on the impacts brought about by scientific developments in our daily lives and inter-personal relationships, KONT(R)A TEMPU [Setback / Against the time] reflects on the constant change in human behaviour in the context of technological evolution and virtual worlds.
In this solo work, the choreographer and dancer, Nuno Barreto, also seeks to create a contemporary work that conveys images of the daily lives of Cape Verdeans through his movements and corporal interpretations.

Biographies

Nuno Barreto
Djamilson Barreto dos Santos, whose stage name is Nuno Barreto, is from Praia, Cape Verde. He has been a dancer for over 20 years and is a cultural activist. He is a member of the Raiz di Polon dance company, through which he has toured Europe, America and Asia. He is the performer and choreographer of the pieces Linhas di Kommuni, Torna Liga, Dos Porta, Cisne Pretu, Stratus di sociedadi and Izulamentu20, Ken Ke Mi, KONT(R)A TEMPU, among others. He is the mentor of theBadju KaBu Kabu project and the Festival Cabo Verde Dança, which aims to promote contemporary dance in Cape Verde.
