Biographies

Nuno Barreto
Djamilson Barreto dos Santos, whose stage name is Nuno Barreto, is from Praia, Cape Verde. He has been a dancer for over 20 years and is a cultural activist. He is a member of the Raiz di Polon dance company, through which he has toured Europe, America and Asia. He is the performer and choreographer of the pieces Linhas di Kommuni, Torna Liga, Dos Porta, Cisne Pretu, Stratus di sociedadi and Izulamentu20, Ken Ke Mi, KONT(R)A TEMPU, among others. He is the mentor of theBadju KaBu Kabu project and the Festival Cabo Verde Dança, which aims to promote contemporary dance in Cape Verde.
