AMELLE – Atitude [Attitude], Maturidade [Maturity], Elegância [Elegance], Legado [Legacy], Liberdade [Liberty] and Esperança [Hope] – is a ritual handed down from generation to generation, spanning common memories and experiences of the past, the present and the near future.
Through this creation, Mai-Júli Machado invokes memories of passage, from girl to women, and denounces the restrictions imposed on women whose ideals do not fall within the norms defined by society. In this short ritual, the artist invites us to awaken the AMELLE that resides within each of us.
