Física da Organização Intracelular
Ivo Telley
O grupo de investigação em Física da Organização Intracelular é uma equipa multidisciplinar interessada na compreensão biofísica da organização intracelular.
Como sistema modelo, estudam os estádios iniciais do desenvolvimento de Drosophila melanogaster, desde o oócito, fertilização, e subsequentes divisões nucleares até à blastoderme.
Por um lado, centram a atenção na fusão dos pró núcleos no ovo e em como o sincício embrionário define a distância internuclear durante as rápidas divisões mitóticas. Por outro lado, estudam as regras físicas e bioquímicas que determinam a polarização do oócito.
Os investigadores recorrem a uma variedade de abordagens experimentais abrangendo as áreas científicas da química, biologia molecular, engenharia genética, micromecânica e microscopia ótica. No centro da plataforma experimental encontra-se uma técnica de extração do conteúdo celular individual de oócitos, ovos ou embriões prematuros.
