This initiative supports 16 projects, selected from a contest, that aim at helping older people stay in familiar surroundings, their homes and communities by offering physical, cognitive, emotional and social activities, thereby contributing to combating isolation and promoting their active participation in community life.

Projects designed for those who are more isolated, located outside of urban centres, and who live in rural areas or small towns, where there are significant mobility issues and inequality of opportunities, were privileged. 

The projects are being implemented in several locations across the country, such as Câmara de Lobos (in Madeira), Marco de Canaveses, Amares, Boticas, Castelo Branco, Mértola and Portalegre, in addition to Lisbon and the Porto metropolitan area.
