To promote autonomy and prevent institutionalisation

Promoter: VALORIZA
Territorial reach: District of Braga
Target group: Isolated seniors
Duration: 3 years
SDG: 3. Good Health and Well-being

This project is designed for the very isolated population residing in peripheral areas and who work in the countryside to the extent possible. When older people can no longer live independently, they are usually institutionalised. In order to prevent institutionalisation, the initiative promotes cognitive stimulation activities, psychomotor activities, health screening, health literacy and entertainment activities. It also offers new services, such as psychomotor stimulation and music therapy through traditional folk dancing and folk songs, basic first aid and self-aid training, rights of the elderly, artistic expression (theatre), stimulating reading (travelling library), digital inclusion and cultural visits.
