Hilar

Event Slider

Afro pop artist born in Spain, raised in Mindelo, and currently residing in Madrid, Hilar formed his first band – Rap Soldiers – at the age of 16 and never let go of music. He lived on the islands of São Vicente, Boa Vista and Santiago, taking advantage of these diverse locations to deeply understand and draw inspiration from Cape Verdean culture.

He has performed hundreds of concerts throughout the Cape Verdean archipelago, presenting both original songs and covers of renowned artists. In 2017, he released his first solo album, Boas Palavras.

His new album, Bo T’Amam (2023), mixes various world sounds, bringing a more eclectic and versatile nature to his music. Hilar has matured but remains true to Cape Verdean music, incorporating diverse rhythms ranging from Pop to Afrobeat.
