Open-Air Amphitheatre Gulbenkian GardenSinger-songwriter of Cape Verdean and Guinean origin, Mário Marta is a lover and captivating performer of traditional Cape Verdean and world music. With over 20 years of singing career, he has shared the stage with heavyweight figures in the Portuguese and Creole music scene such as Sara Tavares, Rui Veloso, Mariza, Carminho, Djodje, Tito Paris, Lura, Nancy Vieira, Boy G Mendes, Ala dos Namorados, Cuca Roseta, and the gospel group SHOUT!, of which he was a part.
In 2019, he released two solo singles – “Kriol” and “Aguenta” featuring Lura – and in 2021, the EP Ser de Luz by Broda Music, featuring original songs by prominent Cape Verdean composers, which earned him several awards and nominations. With his unmistakable voice, Mário Marta immerses us in the rhythms of mornas, coladeiras, and African batuque in a genuine and special way.
