Subscribing to the Cartão Gulbenkian Programme
How do I subscribe to the Cartão Gulbenkian Programme?
Registration is only available through the Gulbenkian Foundation's website and is restricted to individuals aged 16 and older. To sign up, click on the menu icon on the website and select "Cartão Gulbenkian". On the next page, choose "Cartão Gulbenkian" again and click on 'Join'. If you are not already logged in, you will be redirected to the Login page.
If you don't have a MyGulbenkian account:
Choose the "Register" option on the login page, and provide the required information: first name, surname, date of birth, email, and password. You must also accept the terms of use of the website.
Once you have completed this step, you will receive an email at the provided address from [email protected], with the subject line "Account Activation" (the sender is "Gulbenkian"). The email will include a button to activate your account. Click on this button to proceed with the Cartão Gulbenkian subscription process, as outlined in the following steps.
If you already have a MyGulbenkian account:
After clicking 'Join', you will be prompted to log in with your MyGulbenkian credentials.
To continue the process, please enter the following required information: tax identification number (NIF for Portuguese residents), used to prove the User’s identity.
You must also read and accept the Terms and Conditions of the Cartão Gulbenkian Programme and review the information you entered during the MyGulbenkian account creation process.
Upon clicking "Join" a confirmation message will be displayed and, within a few minutes, you will receive an email message containing a QR code that you should use for identification purposes.
With this, you can start enjoying all the benefits of the Cartão Gulbenkian.
I already have a MyGulbenkian account. Is it the same as the Cartão Gulbenkian?
The MyGulbenkian account and the Cartão Gulbenkian are related but serve different purposes. The former is a general account for accessing services provided by the Gulbenkian Foundation (for example, submitting grant applications or downloading publications from the website) and the latter is a loyalty programme that offers its own benefits and advantages.
While you can use your existing MyGulbenkian credentials to log in and join the Cartão Gulbenkian, they are not the same; the Cartão Gulbenkian is an extension to your basic account.
When joining the Cartão Gulbenkian Programme, you will be asked for personal details, such as your tax identification number (NIF for Portuguese residents), which are not required to create a MyGulbenkian account. However, profile data is shared, meaning any changes made to your personal data during the Cartão Gulbenkian registration will be also reflected in your MyGulbenkian account.
Benefits
Increased age discounts only apply to my ticket?
No. The increased age-related discounts apply to all tickets purchased by you – such as exhibitions, concerts, and some designated events –, as long as you are a Cartão Gulbenkian Programme holder and other individuals in your party also meet the necessary criteria to qualify for these discounts.
Do I need to have the Cartão Gulbenkian to purchase a subscription for the Gulbenkian Music season?
Indeed, season tickets for the Gulbenkian Music season are exclusive to Cartão Gulbenkian Programme cardholders (both free and paid options).
Can I guarantee a Gulbenkian Music Season subscription with the Cartão Gulbenkian?
No, it’s not guaranteed. Cartão Gulbenkian Programme cardholders (both free and paid options) can request subscriptions, which will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis, and accepted or rejected depending on room capacity.
How do age-related discounts work?
For ticket purchases, including exhibitions, concerts, and other designated events, individuals under 30 are eligible for a 25% discount, while those over 65 receive a 10% discount. However, Cartão Gulbenkian Programme holders enjoy even greater savings, with discounts of 50% for those under 30, 20% for those over 65 and 10% between 30 and 64 years. These increased discounts also extend to accompanying visitors who qualify for age-related discounts.
To enjoy this benefit during an online purchase, you need to log in. For in-person purchases, you must identify yourself with your QR code or personal details.
Is there a discount when purchasing publications?
Indeed, a 10% discount is offered on publications edited by the Gulbenkian Foundation. Please note that this discount is not cumulative with other discounts or promotions currently available.
To avail of these benefits online, please log in to your account. If purchasing in person, present your QR code or provide your personal details for identification.
How can I make advanced reservations for free events?
The advanced reservation for free events is exclusively done on the Gulbenkian Foundation's website and is limited to two tickets per card holder, per event.
The "Reserve" button becomes available one day before the event to Cartão Gulbenkian card holders logged in. The general public will only be allowed to book on the same day of the event.
To take advantage of this benefit you must be logged in, then select the desired event from the calendar, and click on the "Reserve" button. After completing the reservation, tickets are sent to the email address associated with your Cartão Gulbenkian. Admission is only guaranteed up to 10 minutes prior to the event. Subsequently, entry will be subject to the room capacity.
Validity and expiration
How long is the Cartão Gulbenkian valid?
The Cartão Gulbenkian does not have an expiration date.
However, after three years of inactivity, an email will be sent to confirm continued interest in the programme – holders will be automatically removed if there is no response. To reaccess the benefits of the Cartão Gulbenkian Programme, a new registration will be necessary.
Cancellation
Can I cancel the Cartão Gulbenkian?
Yes, simply log in, click on "Cartão Gulbenkian" on the side menu, and then on "My card". At the bottom of the page, you will find the option to "Cancel card".
By cancelling the Cartão Gulbenkian, you will lose the accumulated points’ balance, as well as all associated benefits: increased discounts, and special offers, among others.

How do I subscribe to the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais?
Registration, subject to the payment of an annual fee, is exclusively done on the Gulbenkian Foundation's website and is limited to individuals over the age of 16.

Next, you will be led through the purchase process, where you can validate transaction details and make the payment.
After finalizing the payment, you will be sent an email containing your identification QR code along with the invoice. With this, you gain immediate access to all the privileges and benefits associated with the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais.
You will also receive a physical version of the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais at the shipping address you provided, within 10 business days. This card, along with the QR code that is readily accessible in your account, grants you direct access to all exhibitions at the Foundation.
I want to join the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais Programme, but I already have a Cartão Gulbenkian. Will I lose my earned points balance?
If you decide to upgrade to the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais while already holding a Cartão Gulbenkian, rest assured that your accumulated points balance will be seamlessly transferred to the new card.
Should you choose not to renew the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais, your membership will default back to the original Cartão Gulbenkian, and your points balance will remain intact.
Can I offer the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais to someone else?
Yes, you can purchase a Gift Card at Gulbenkian stores and offer an annual fee for the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais to anyone over 16 (worth €65).
The Gift Card has an activation code that will be requested during the subscription process, which is carried out exclusively on the Foundation's website.
How can I pay the subscription of the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais?

The purchase limit for tickets remains consistent with the Foundation’s regular policy, which is a maximum of five tickets per session.
How does priority booking work for single tickets to the Gulbenkian Music Season and educational activities?
Priority booking for concerts and educational activities is exclusively available on our website for Cartão Gulbenkian Mais cardholders. During priority booking, the "Buy ticket" button will be available only to Cartão Gulbenkian Mais cardholders who are logged in. To access this benefit you must be logged in (using your email and password), then select the desired event from the agenda, and click on the "Buy ticket" button. After completing the purchase, tickets and invoices are sent to the email address associated with your Cartão Gulbenkian Mais.
How can I book exclusive events?
To book a ticket for an exclusive event, you should log in to access your personal area on the website and select the "Cartão Gulbenkian" option in the side menu, followed by "Exclusive Programming". Choose the desired event, click on "Book ticket", and select one ticket ─ the access to exclusive programming is limited to one ticket per cardholder, not extendable to non-member, and subject to availability.
After confirmation, you will receive an email with your ticket, which will also be available for download on the website.
Remember to bring your ticket to the event.
I won’t be able to attend an exclusive event I booked. What should I do?
If you are unable to attend, please visit the Gulbenkian website and log in with your credentials. Go to the ‘Tickets’ section and click on the ‘Cancel’ button next to the ticket you wish to return.
Alternatively, please contact the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation requesting the cancellation of your reservation. To do this, fill out the contact form and select the "Information Request" option. Then, in the “Theme” field, indicate “Cartão Gulbenkian” and after filling in the required information, please specify that you wish to cancel your ticket, attaching it if possible.
Visits with the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais are eligible to earn points?

How can I benefit from the in-store discount?

Validity and expiration
What is the validity of the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais?
The Cartão Gulbenkian Mais is valid for 12 months from the subscription date and can be renewed for equal periods upon payment of an annual fee. If the renewal occurs before the expiration date, the day after the expiration date will be considered the start date of the new subscription cycle.
How can I request a duplicate of the physical card? Is there any extra cost?
In case of theft or loss of the physical card, you should notify us immediately by phone or through the contact form. To do this, fill in the contact form and select the option "Information Request ". Then, in the “Theme” field indicate “Cartão Gulbenkian” and after filling in the required information, please specified your situation. Issuing a duplicate of the physical card has an additional cost, which will be communicated to you in due time.
Cancellation
Can I cancel my Cartão Gulbenkian Mais?
Yes, you need to log in, click on "Cartão Gulbenkian" in the side menu, and then on "My Card". At the bottom of the page, you will find the option to "Cancel card".
By cancelling the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais, you will lose all benefits: free access to exhibitions, priority booking, and exclusive programming, among others. The annual fee will not be refunded and you will lose the accumulated points balance.
Renewal
Is it possible to renew the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais?
Yes, it's possible. The renewal is valid for one year and involves paying the € 65 annual fee.
What should I do to renew the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais?
Renewal is done in the personal area on the Foundation's website. A “Renew” button will be displayed one month before the subscription ends in the personal area, allowing you to start the process. You can renew your card until the last day of the subscription validity, thus ensuring the continuity of all benefits.
When should I renew my Cartão Gulbenkian Mais?
Renewal can be carried out until the last day of the active subscription's validity. If not, the benefits will expire immediately the following day.
What happens if I don't renew the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais?
If you do not renew your subscription before the deadline, you will lose access to all benefits associated with the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais.
If you have registered for the free version of the Cartão Gulbenkian, your account will be updated, and your points balance will be migrated to the free version. Otherwise, you will lose all accumulated points.
Can I change the information associated with my Cartão Gulbenkian Mais during renewal?
Yes, during the renewal process, you can update your personal information, such as address or telephone number, directly on the Foundation's website's area.
Will a new physical card be sent after renewal?
No, you must continue to use the existing card and the digital QR code available in your area.
If I renew my Cartão Gulbenkian Mais before the last day of validity, will I lose subscription days?
No. You can renew your subscription one month before it expires. Regardless of the date on which the renewal is made, the new subscription will only start on the day following the date on which the current one expires. This way, there is no loss of subscription days, and your benefits will be guaranteed uninterrupted.
Can I renew my Cartão Gulbenkian Mais before the Renew button appears?
No, renewal will only be possible one month before the active subscription expiration date. At that time, a “Renew” button will be available in the personal area on the Foundation's website, allowing the renewal process to begin.
What payment methods are sCa
During the online renewal process, you can pay via MB Way, credit card, debit card, or Gift Card that you have previously purchased at the Foundation's stores. In the last option, enter the activation code printed on the Gift Card to complete the renewal at no additional cost.
How do I use a Gift Card to renew the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais?
In the online renewal process, enter the activation code printed on the Gift Card in the “Activation Code” field and click the “Apply” button. Once the code is validated, the amount payable will be adjusted to zero, and you can complete the renewal. The benefits associated with your Cartão Gulbenkian Mais will then be renewed for another year.

Earning point
How can I earn points?
You can earn points on free transactions (for example, advanced reservations for free events) or paid transactions at the Foundation’s ticket offices and shops, excluding refunds. Transactions at the Foundation’s Cafeterias/Restaurants are not considered eligible.
How many points can I earn per day?
For each channel (for example, the Main Building ticket office, the Museum ticket office, the Museum shop, or the Foundation’s website) there is a daily limit of one point.
To earn points, you must identify yourself by presenting your QR code or personal details (in face-to-face transactions) or by logging in (in online transactions).
Points are not immediately credited to your account. It may take up to 48 hours for the points to appear in your account balance.
Why is each interaction worth only 1 point per channel?
The Cartão Gulbenkian was developed to reward regular engagement with the Foundation, regardless of the amount spent. Therefore, all interactions are valued equally: 1 point per interaction per channel.
This model promotes a more inclusive experience, rewarding those who interact more frequently with the Foundation over time.
I made a purchase and did not earn any points. Why?
Please be aware that points are not immediately credited to your account. It may take up to 48 hours for the points to appear in your account balance.
To earn points, it is necessary to identify yourself as a Cartão Gulbenkian Programme holder, at the ticket offices, shops, and on the Foundation's website. Transactions at the Cafeterias/Restaurants are not considered eligible.
There is a daily limit for earned points per channel. For example, if you purchase two exhibition tickets in two different transactions, on the same day and the same channel, only the first will be considered eligible. Learn about the list of eligible interactions.

How can I check my points?
You can check your balance anytime in your MyGulbenkian personal area. Log in to the Foundation's website and go to the ‘Points and offers’ section, where you will find the total number of points accumulated and the list of offers available. Whenever you make an eligible purchase or interaction and provide your identification, with your Cartão Gulbenkian or Cartão Gulbenkian Mais, the respective point will be visible up to 48 hours after the transaction.
Can I transfer or purchase points?

Validity
Do points have an expiration date?
No, points will not expire for as long as your Cartão Gulbenkian or Cartão Gulbenkian Mais remains active.
Using points
How can I redeem my points for special offers?
To redeem your points for special offers, log in to your MyGulbenkian personal area and go to the ‘Points and offers’ section.
Here you can:
View all the offers you can redeem, along with the number of points required for each. If you have enough points for an offer, click "Use points". In case you don't have sufficient points, the option will be blocked. After clicking on "Use points", you will need to enter the desired quantity for that offer and confirm the action. One or more promotional codes will be generated and displayed on the screen. You should click on "Use" to proceed.
A digital promo code will be generated immediately, which you can apply at checkout when purchasing online. The promo code will also be stored in your personal area until it is used. Remember always to check the expiry date, which can vary between one and three days after the issue date.
After the operation is concluded, your tickets and invoice will be emailed to you and will also be available for download from the website.
Do promotional codes have an expiration date?

Does the promo code give direct access to the event associated with the offer?
No. The promo code is not a ticket, but a digital promotional code that must be applied during the online purchase process. Only after completing the purchase process, applying the promo code before paying, will the ticket be issued and become valid for use at events.
Can I use promotional codes on all types of tickets?
No. In the case of special offers, such as tickets for the Gulbenkian Museum Collection, temporary exhibitions, and concerts, promotional codes only apply to the following ticket types: Full Price, Over 65 years old and Under 30 years old.
Where can I find the promo codes after generating them?
After redeeming points, promo codes are available in the MyGulbenkian personal area, under ‘Points and offers’. Subsequently, during the ticket purchase process, the available promotional codes are automatically displayed to apply to your purchase, so there is no need to memorise or copy the codes manually.
Are promo codes transferable to third parties?
Promo codes are personal and non-transferable. However, you can use your promo code to purchase tickets with discounts and offer these tickets to other people, guaranteeing they meet the requirements for the chosen type (e.g., age for age discounts).
Can I use the same promo code more than once?
No. Each promo code is for single and exclusive use only and becomes invalid after use.
I redeemed points for an offer but haven't received my ticket(s). What should I do?
Firstly, check your SPAM folder for an email from "[email protected]" with the subject "Purchase confirmation". It should arrive within 15 minutes.
If the tickets are still missing, you may have created a promotional code but failed to complete the purchase process until the end. To resolve this, log into your account on the website and visit the "Points and Offers" section to find any unused promotional codes. Click on "Use", and proceed to checkout, where promotional codes will be automatically applied to discount the basket value.
Once the transaction is completed, you will receive the tickets and corresponding invoice in your email address. You can also download the tickets directly from the website.

I redeemed points for an offer but, unfortunately, cannot attend that event. Can I get my points back?
No. It's not possible to reclaim points in case of non-attendance.
I used a promotional code for an event that was cancelled. Can I get my points back?
Yes, for events cancelled by the Gulbenkian Foundation, the points used will be refunded to your account.
Gift Card — Cartão Gulbenkian Mais
To enjoy Gulbenkian to the fullest
What is a Gift Card?
The Gift Card allows you to offer an annual fee for the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais to any individual aged 16 and older. It can be purchased at the Foundation's stores, is valid for 12 months after purchase, and is activated exclusively on the Foundation's website.
How can I subscribe to the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais using a Gift Card?
During the registration (or renewal) process, which is only available through the Gulbenkian Foundation's website, the holder must enter the activation code printed on the Gift Card in the indicated field. Once this operation is completed, the amount to be paid will be corrected to zero, and the user will not be charged anything. Once registration/renewal is confirmed, the Cardholder can immediately enjoy all the benefits of the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais for one year.
Can the Gift Card also be used to renew the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais?
Yes, the Gift Card can renew the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais for one year. Like registration, renewal is done exclusively online on the Foundation's website, and the activation code printed on the Gift Card will also be requested.
Where can I buy the Gift Card?
The Gift Card can be purchased in person at any of the Foundation's stores. Payment can be made in cash, at an ATM, or by credit card.
Does the 10% discount available to Cartão Gulbenkian Mais holders apply in-store when purchasing the Gift Card?
No. Only store items and publications are covered by the 10% discount provided for Cartão Gulbenkian Mais holders. The Gift Card is excluded from all current promotions.
What is the validity of the Gift Card?
The Gift Card is valid for one year from the time of purchase. If it expires, the amount paid will not be returned or refunded.
Does the Gift Card replace the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais?
No. The Gift Card allows you to pay for the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais subscription in advance. Can I return a Gift Card?
No. Purchased Gift Cards are not eligible for returns, exchanges, or cash refunds. The Gift Card is valid for one year after purchase and becomes unusable after this period. It can only be used to register or renew the Cartão Gulbenkian Mais's annual fee.
