Talk with Dejanirah Couto, Walter Rossa, Luís Filipe Reis Thomaz and Guilherme d’Oliveira Martins about the book Ocenano Luso-Índico. Estudos de História Mestiça, published in the end of 2025.

Oceano Luso-Índico is an anthology of Luís Filipe Reis Thomaz’s key articles on the Portuguese presence in the East.

One of the most distinguished and prolific researchers in this field, the author closely oversaw the compilation of this collection of essays, which takes its title from a journal edited by Jean Aubin and Geneviève Bouchon, Mare Luso-Indicum, which consisted of just four issues, the last of which was published in 1980.

The book aims to serve as a pedagogical incentive and encouragement for scholars who wish to continue researching this história mestiça [mixed history], a subtitle chosen by the author in reference to the multiple influences between Portuguese history and the local one.

Historian Dejanirah Couto and architect Walter Rossa will be at the Lisbon Book Fair to talk about the book with author Luís Filipe Reis Thomaz and Guilherme d’Oliveira Martins, author of the preface and one of the driving forces behind this publication.
