Engawa Space Centro de Arte Moderna GulbenkianAntecâmara Radio Gallery (2021) is a project that explores space through experimental practices and artistic approaches that reveal conceptual and methodological perspectives attuned to the field of architecture. It questions and expands notions of the city, architecture, disciplinary relationships, and contemporary social and poetic concerns. In this residency, the collective approaches material research as a critical field through which to question the role of cultural institutions in the ecological transition.
The exhibition is conceived as a temporary and process-based device, where materiality, reversibility and environmental responsibility structure contemporary cultural production.
During the residency, a modular cardboard structure – designed by the atelier Campos Costa Arquitetos – is progressively constructed, forming the physical and conceptual foundation of the project. Conceived as an installation in transformation, the space adapts over time and functions as a platform for experimenting with sustainable, reusable and regenerative construction processes.
The residency has an associated programme that includes workshops, talks, debates, and other activities, reinforcing the project as an ongoing process and a space for shared learning.
The Antecâmara team will be at the residency space to work and engage with the public on Mondays (14:00 – 16:30) and Fridays (10:00 – 12:30), until May 18.
‘Ephemeral Permanences’ is part of the residencies programme developed within ‘Institution(ing)s’.
