O laboratório de Evolução e Desenvolvimento tem como objetivo explorar a interface entre a evolução, a biologia do desenvolvimento e a fisiologia, sendo o seu propósito final contribuir para o esclarecimento das regras pelas quais esta interação molda os organismos à escala evolutiva.
Atualmente, o grupo de investigação está focado na função imunológica com o objetivo de dissecar os seus mecanismos proximais. Para tal, a abordagem experimental que utilizam combina o método comparativo e a evolução experimental, abarcando diferentes níveis de organização biológica.
