Raizarte – Uma orquestra, três comunidades
[Raizarte – One orchestra, three communities]
Children from three different communities on the island of São Miguel, Azores, develop personal and social skills by learning music through taking part in an orchestra.
Children between the ages of 9 and 12 from the municipalities of Ribeira Grande, Nordeste and Vila Franca do Campo, on the island of São Miguel, Azores, come together in this orchestral project, which combines musical education with the development of artistically framed personal and social skills.
As well as fostering the intersection of people from different contexts and dispersed geographies, the project seeks to stimulate creative experimentation, promote cultural consumption habits and foster diversified artistic experiences among these children.
With artistic coordination by Amâncio Cabral, Raizarte was one of the projects supported by the 1st edition of PARTIS & Art for Change.
