Public Finances: An Intergenerational Perspective
Francesco Franco, João Jalles, Luís Teles Morais, Tiago Bernardino
Study that explores the sustainability of public finances as inseparable from resources sharing among generations: if public finances aren’t sustainable, households in the future will be required to pay more taxes, receive lower benefits or enjoy less public goods and services.
Directed by Francesco Franco, professor at NOVA School of Business and Economics, Tiago Bernardino from Stockholm University and Luís Teles Morais from NOVA School of Business and Economics and Institute of Public Policy.
Policy Briefs
Following the results of this research, we challenged universities to present and discuss solutions to solve the sustainability of public finances and the reversal of the demographic decline. This challenge resulted in two proposals, developed by Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão da Universidade de Lisboa (ISEG) and by CATÓLICA-LISBON’s Business and Economics Research Unit.
