Digital edition

PDF – 4.9 MB

Part of the Study on the Application of AI in Journalism in Portugal, this report presents the findings of a decentralised consultation process, capturing perceptions and experiences of artificial intelligence adoption across the sector.

This report presents the findings of a decentralised consultation process on the application of artificial intelligence in journalism in Portugal, gathering perspectives, experiences and expectations from media professionals and organisations.

Developed within the framework of the Study on the Application of AI in Journalism in Portugal, the report is scientifically coordinated by the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of NOVA University Lisbon, in collaboration with national and international academic institutions, and with the involvement of media groups, regulatory authorities and professional associations.

It systematises data collected from a wide range of media types — press, radio, television, digital media and news agencies — across all NUTS II regions of Portugal. This enables a territorial and structural overview of AI adoption within the national journalistic ecosystem, as well as the ethical, editorial and professional challenges identified.

Funded by the European Media and Information Fund under the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s Democracy and Civil Society Programme, this is the second technical output of the project. It complements the Diagnostic Report and Thematic Analysis and contributes to the formulation of strategic recommendations.
