Porvir

In the year of the Festa de Tabuleiros (Tray Festival), we came to Tomar with the desire to understand the city’s experience of this festival, declared a Portuguese Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2023. We were interested in learning about the dynamics, the history, the tradition, and in discovering points of contact between the work that we do and the festival.

A group of local inhabitants, known as the Nabantinos, joined us and enriched the work with their voices and bodies, their thoughts and reflections about the festival, about Tomar and about the future. This creative process resulted in a piece for people to listen to and a sound production designed to tell, play, record and invite people to imagine the future.

The project was developed as part of ATOS, an initiative of the D. Maria II National Theatre and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
