Pe_soa: a que estado é que queremos chegar?
PE_SOA: Where do we want to go?
In Castelo de Vide, the starting point was Captain Salgueiro Maia. Between June and October 2023, the Lugar Específico Association visited Maia’s hometown to listen to the community talk about this inspiring and inescapable figure of the 25th of April.
The mission was to question, to inspire and above all to create a collective will to act for the change we want to see in the world. Throughout the process, audio recordings were made by the team and the group of young people involved in the project (in the form of spontaneous street interviews, intergenerational meetings, team interviews, children’s interviews, school workshops and debates), which served as inspiration for the team and the communities working side by side. Activities created to embody the dreams of the future included a sound piece to accompany the permanent exhibition, a cultural exchange session, music and poetry with an international group, and a performance at the Salgueiro Maia Citizenship House.
The project was developed as part of ATOS, an initiative of the D. Maria II National Theatre and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
