Gulbenkian Foundation takes part in COP28
The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation will once again be present at this year’s United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai and, at the invitation of the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Action, will be responsible for participating in and organising a series of events at the Portugal Pavilion.
Cécile Bebiane Ndjebet, an agronomist from Cameroon, an activist for gender equality and the preservation of ecosystems in many African countries, and winner of the 2023 Gulbenkian Humanity Prize, will be at COP 28 to discuss, with other winners and members of the Gulbenkian Humanity Prize jury, how climate action can inspire hope.
In addition to this panel and these speakers, the Gulbenkian Foundation will be present in other programmes at the Portugal Pavilion, showcasing its initiatives to combat climate change and to promote climate transition, including the Gulbenkian Blue Carbon, Gulbenkian Água or Transition Point projects and the previously mentioned Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity, for which the nomination period is currently underway.
Complementing the panel on How can climate action inspire hope? are the sessions on Accelerating Climate Action through Civil Participation; Portuguese Foundations: At the forefront of Climate Transition; and Blue Carbon: experiences for a sustainable future.
In addition to the events organised at the Portugal Pavilion, the Gulbenkian Foundation will also take part in other COP28 sessions and forums, making use of the opportunity to share good practices not only in terms of public participation in climate action and ocean protection, but also in promoting the role of philanthropy in creating fairer and more sustainable societies.
