The three workshops will be held on the second day, aimed at sharing methodologies and processes between artists who are already carrying out or intend to carry out projects in prisons.
The sessions will showcase methodologies focused on dance and Gestalt psychotherapy (corpoemcadeia project), collaborative drawing (Trégua project) and ethics and narrative creation (RadioAtividade project).
To encourage the sharing of experiences and peer learning, and thus strengthen this community of practice, you must register for the entire day and attend all workshops.
Registration opens on September 15.
Registration for this work day implies participation in all three workshops. Participation in only one of the workshops is not permitted.

Biographies

Catarina Câmara
Dancer, choreographer, social activist and a collaborative researcher at the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminal Sciences (FDUL). She holds a bachelor’s degree in Law (FDUL) and Dance (ESD-IPL) and is a Gestalt Psychotherapy counsellor, trained at the Gestalt Institute of Florence. Her work explores the dialogue between artistic practices, social reintegration and criminal law, cutting across the fields of dance, Gestalt and restorative justice. She is the Artistic and Social Coordinator of corpoemcadeia, a project implemented since 2019 at the Linhó Prison and supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Catarina Claro
Cultural and artistic mediator who works in the field of art education. Her projects cover and cut across a wide range of disciplines, and she is particularly interested in exploring the links between creativity and critical thinking, the visual arts, theatre and literature. In 2016, she founded the cultural association Casa Invisível and headed to the island of Madeira. In 2022, she conceived and implemented the project Trégua at the Funchal Prison, of which she is the Executive Director. Trégua is currently supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian & ‘la Caixa’ Foundations under the initiative PARTIS & Art for Change.

Cristiana de Sousa
Born and raised in ilha da Madeira. With a degree in Painting (FBAUL-ULisboa) and a master’s degree in Art and Design for Public Spaces (FBAUL-UPorto), her practice focuses on interventions in public spaces, connecting art, territory and community. Her career includes several mural interventions and public art projects, as well as collaborations as a costume designer, prop maker and in crafts, making us of an accessible language rooted in tradition. She also invests in training and cultural mediation. She is the Artistic Director of the Trégua project, implemented at the Funchal Prison since 2022 and supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian and ‘la Caixa’ Foundations under the initiative PARTIS & Art for Change.

Ana Gil
In 2012, Ana founded the Terceira Pessoa association with Nuno Leão. She was its artistic director until 2023 and has carried out creative projects in theatre and interdisciplinary fields, educational services, audience development and programming. Ana coordinates artistic and educational participatory projects in various communities, including: Há Festa no Campo (PARTIS – Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation); Manifesta-te (Gulbenkian Academies of Knowledge); Espíritos Livres at Guarda Prison (DgArtes); RadioATIVIDADE at Guarda Prison (PARTIS & Art for Change – Calouste Gulbenkian & ‘la Caixa’ Foundation).

Nuno Leão
Graduated in Theatre (ESTC), he has been developing his artistic work since 2004, having developed several projects that span the fields of creation, training, mediation, research and programming. In 2012, he founded Terceira Pessoa – Association with Ana Gil. There, he took on the role of artistic director, having developed several artistic creation projects in theatre, performance and visual arts, artistic training and mediation projects, research, editing and programming. Since 2019, he has been a Guest Adjunct Professor at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema do Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa, where he teaches acting.

Óscar Silva
Creator, director and actor. He graduated in Theatre (ESTC), attended the Postgraduate Performance programme (ECA-USP), and completed his Masters in Performance and Practice (UAL). Between 2010 and 2014 Óscar lived and worked in São Paulo where he was assistant director of SP Escola de Teatro and led several educational and artistic projects. He participated in École des Maîtres 2017. Óscar is currently the Artistic Director of Terceira Pessoa, where he has been co-directing the RadioATIVIDADE project at Guarda Prison since 2022, supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian and ‘la Caixa’ Foundations under the initiative PARTIS & Art for Change.
