In this literary meeting, award-winning authors Ana Paula Tavares and Tatiana Salem Levy, moderated by writer Amadú Dafé, invite us to explore a world of bitter stories and reflect on the art of writing about the complexities of human experience.
This talk will reveal how different cultural geographies define us as Lisboners and how books become bridges between times, places and emotions, unveiling the beauty and the challenges of our intertwined narratives.
The talk will be followed by a book signing.

Ana Paula Tavares
Born in Huíla, Angola, she is a historian with a master’s degree in Brazilian Literatures and African Literatures in Portuguese and a PhD in Anthropology of History. She is the coordinator of the research group on Portuguese-speaking African Cultures and Literatures at the Centre for Lusophone and European Literatures and Cultures, and also collaborates with the National Historical Archive of Angola and RDP-Africa. Mainly known as a poet, she has published studies on the history and literature of Angola and is featured in several international poetry anthologies.

Tatiana Levy
Born in Lisbon, she is a writer, essayist and researcher at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Her novel A Chave de Casa (2016), which has been translated into several languages, won the São Paulo Prize for Literature as a first-time author in 2008. She has also published the novels Dois Rios (2011) and Paraíso (2014). Additionally, she’s written books for children and young adults, as well as a book of chronicles. She writes cultural reviews and commentaries for the Brazilian newspaper Valor Econômico.

Amadú Dafé
Born in Ingoré, Guinea-Bissau, he has a Law degree and a degree in Accountancy and is a member of the Guinea-Bissau Writers’ Association and the PEN Centre of Guinea-Bissau. In 2021, he organised the re-edition of Florbela Espanca’s works, which won the Bertrand Book of the Year Award 2021 in the re-editions category. He is the author of Magarias (2017), Ussu de Bissau (2019), Jasmim (2020) and co-author of fora de jogo (2019). He won the José Carlos Schwarz Literary Prize (2015; 2017) and the Matilde Rosa Araújo International Children’s Short Story Literary Prize (2012).
