Gulbenkian Orchestra / Martim Sousa Tavares

Event Slider

Martim Sousa Tavares has taken on a “commitment to fairness for composers and repertoires” and has therefore based his work on a wide range of experiences, going in search of audiences for classical music outside its usual settings or offering surprising relationships between composers. In his debut with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the conductor directs national premiere of Rissolty, Rossolty, a piece by composer Ruth Crawford Seeger – notable for its approach to the roots of North American popular music – and works by Mozart, Hummel, Debussy, Sarasate, and Popper, in a musical journey of almost three centuries. The concert is part of the Lisboa na Rua programme.
