Over the past 12 years, there have been several constellations arranged around the Fire! trio, formed by Mats Gustafsson, Johan Berthling and Andreas Werliin, expanding or retracting an approach to improvised music that remains timeless. In a trio or as an orchestra, accompanied by Jim O’Rourke or Oren Ambarchi, the possibilities have been many and their ability to amaze listeners is unlimited. This time, in the company of Goran Kajfeš and Mats Äleklint, Fire! they are playing as a quintet and in a formation that has incorporated a flute. Everything and nothing changes from that point. The music is no longer the same, when it welcomes a new element; and yet it continues to be driven by the same impulse of discovery and revelation.
