Auditorium 2 Calouste Gulbenkian FoundationLisbon, safe harbour and muse, city of light and ancient soul, opens its arms to a poetic encounter between Gisela Casimiro, Margarida Vale de Gato, Dj Huba and António Poppe. In this talk/performance, the verses of today intertwine with those of the past, creating a unique melody that celebrates the beauty, complexity and spirit of the city.

António Poppe
António Poppe is a poet, visual artist and performer. He took an advanced Visual Arts course at Ar.Co and studied Drawing and Sculpture at the Royal College of Arts in London. He completed a master’s degree in Performing Art and Film at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, on a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Luso-American Development Foundation. He is the author of a hybrid of visual arts, performance and poetry, which he has showcased since 1991 in several cultural institutions and galleries. He has published five books of poetry.

DJ Huba
He is an actor, slammer and videographer. He began his career with a degree in Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications, later graduating in Theatre and Theology and completing a master’s degree in Performing Arts. He has won several Poetry Slam awards and founded the Slam Trafaria poetry festival. He was a speaker at TEDx Lisboa 2023. He performed his spoken word show um toque Divinal at the first edition of the Felicidade Festival.

Gisela Casimiro
She is a writer, artist and performer. She has published several books and is the author of the text and dramaturgy for Casa com Árvores Dentro. She has performed in shows by Ana Borralho & João Galante, Mala Voadora and Romeo Castellucci. She also co-creates and acts in SET THE TABLE. She was featured in solo and group exhibitions in several venues and her work is part of the António Cachola Collection. She coordinates the Batalha Cinema Centre Reading Club with Teresa Coutinho. She was a member of INMUNE – Instituto da Mulher Negra and is a founding member of UNA – União Negra das Artes.

Margarida Vale de Gato
She is a translator and the author of several books of poetry, including Lançamento (2016), Atirar para o Torto (2021), and Mulher ao Mar, an ongoing project that began in 2010 and whose latest edition is Mulher ao Mar e Corsárias (2023). She researches and teaches American Studies and Literary Translation at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon.
