One of the most renowned translators and researchers of Pessoa’s work, Richard Zenith talks with Nuno Amado about the biography of Fernando Pessoa he wrote in 2022, for which he had to go through thousands of documents.
Settled in Portugal for more than 30 years, Richard Zenith is a writer, translator and researcher. He was the organiser of the Book of Disquiet, published by Assírio & Alvim, among many other works by Fernando Pessoa. He was awarded the Pessoa Prize in 2012.
In 2022, he published Pessoa: Uma Biografia, rated as one of the best books of 2021 by several publications. This work is the starting point for a conversation about ‘the art of biography’, in the context of an international conference dedicated to this form of literature.
