Colóquio – Camões: novas artes, novo engenho

No. 221. Spring 2026

In the year when the final events of the celebrations marking the 500th anniversary of Luís de Camões’s birth are taking place, Colóquio presents an issue specially dedicated to the various forms of posthumous life of the writer’s work and figure, both from a critical perspective and through an examination of a series of reinterpretations by diverse artists and thinkers from vastly different times and places. Here we find readings of poetry tout court, but also of astronomy, painting, cinema, music, and dance, in a collection of essays and commentaries that makes it clear, above all, that the distance between verses composed in the 16th century and gestures proposed in the 21st century can be almost imperceptible.
