Orquestra de Cordas da Ajuda seeks to tackle the various problems faced by socially vulnerable children living in the parish of Ajuda (school absenteeism and underachievement, peer separation and upheaval, illiteracy and lack of contact with artistic practice, among other problems) and to promote cohesion between the different generations of the parish’s mostly aged population, by creating a Community Choir.

Besides music lessons in schools and training the Community Choir, the project includes working sessions with all participants (creative meetings and urban narratives) to explore other artistic areas, such as theatre, sculpture and creative writing. The project wraps up with an artistic residency with a guest artist from Lu.Ca (Luis de Camões Theatre).
