Amadora Empreende
The Municipal Social Entrepreneurship Programme Amadora Empreende (which freely translates to Amadora Means Business), which was launched in January 2008, includes two anchor projects: “Quick” aimed at young people up to the age of 30; and “Quem não arrisca não petisca” (Nothing ventured nothing gained) for citizens aged 16 to 65.
The aim of the programme is to provide training and support to citizens who have an idea for setting up a business in the municipality. Those with the best ideas will have access to the “Quick Incubator”, a space that provides all the resources necessary for launching the project, namely computers with Internet access, telephone and fax and an area for meetings to pitch the product or service to potential clients. It is not, however, a financing programme.
Amadora Empreende is run by Amadora City Council with the support of ISCTE and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
