Scholarships for Arts Training Abroad with shorter periods
The Scholarships for Arts Training Abroad support academic and technical training in the visual arts, dance, theatre, cinema and music, in establishments outside Portugal. They are granted for academic training (postgraduate and master’s degrees) for young people up to the age of 35 or for technical training and artistic development, with no age limit. In the 2025 edition, the eligible training period for technical training is now a minimum of one week and a maximum of 12 months, allowing artists to apply for shorter training projects. In the previous edition, the minimum duration was 3 months.
Nationals or foreigners living in Portugal can apply for these scholarships until 30 April. Priority will be given to applications for attendance at academic or professional educational establishments, or under the guidance of artistic entities or personalities of recognised merit.
The grant includes a monthly fee of €1,500 or €50/day; a one-off initial amount of €1,000 for installation costs (in the case of training courses lasting more than 3 months); €500 for travel directly related to the training; up to €5,000 for tuition fees; and personal accident insurance while travelling.
This support excludes applications for bachelor’s and doctoral degrees, as well as in the specific areas of Architecture and Urbanism, Design, History of Art, Heritage and Archaeology.
