António Feijó will become President of the Calouste Foundation in May 2022
António Feijó will be succeeding Isabel Mota, who will reach the end of her mandate as president in May, unable to be re-elected, as foreseen in the Foundation’s regulations, for having reached the age limit.
António Feijó
Full Professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon.
He was Director of the Faculty of Letters and is currently Vice-Rector of the University of Lisbon and Director of the University of Lisbon Press.
PhD (English and North American Literature) Brown University; MA (English and North American Literature) State University of New York.
He has published essays on major works of English, American, and Portuguese Literature, as well as translations and dramaturgical versions (Shakespeare, Otway and Fernando Pessoa, among others).
In 2015, he published Uma Admiração Pastoril pelo Diabo (Pessoa e Pascoaes), Imprensa-Nacional Casa da Moeda. In 2016, he published a slightly altered version of his translation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. In 2017 he published, with Miguel Tamen, A Universidade como deve ser (Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos).
He has been a commissioner for exhibitions on literature at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (2008) and at the Cupertino de Miranda Foundation (2018, in collaboration).
He was President of the Independent General Council of RTP.
He is the Non-Executive Director of the Casa de Mateus Foundation.
He has been a non-executive trustee of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation since 2018.
