Miguel Poiares Maduro

Miguel Poiares Maduro

Director of the School of Transnational Governance of the European University Institute He graduated from the University of Lisbon’s School of Law, and has a PhD from the European University Institute in Florence. He was Advocate General of the European Court of Justice and Professor at the School of Law at NOVA University Lisbon, as well as Deputy Minister of Regional Development of the Portuguese government.

Anabela Botelho

Anabela Botelho

Full Professor of Economics at the University of Aveiro She was previously a teacher and researcher at several institutions, including the Universities of Minho and Porto in Portugal, and the Universities of South Carolina, Central Florida, Arizona and California in the United States. Today she is Coordinator at the Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies (GOVCOPP) and Director of the PhD Program in Economic and Business Sciences at the University of Aveiro.

António Vicente

António Vicente

He currently serves in the European Commission. He has a degree in International Relations from the Technical University of Lisbon, a Master’s in Economics from Nova School of Business and Economics, and a Master’s in Political Theory from the London School of Economics. He was Head of the Office of the Deputy Secretary of State of the Prime Minister of the Portuguese government and Head of the Office of the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation.

Edalina Rodrigues Sanches

Edalina Rodrigues Sanches

Researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon. Her research focuses on democracy, popular protest, political behavior and political institutions, with a focus on Africa. She recently won a FCT grant to conduct research on how politicians represent local interests in Ghana and South Africa.

João Taborda da Gama

João Taborda da Gama

Lawyer, arbitrator and legal consultant, partner of the law firm Gama Glória and lecturer at the Catholic University of Portugal’s School of Law. He is a member of the Higher Council of Administrative and Tax Courts and Senior Advisor at the Albright Stonebridge Group. He was Secretary of State for Local Authorities of the Portuguese government and adviser to the Portuguese President.

José Manuel Félix Ribeiro

José Manuel Félix Ribeiro

Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation consultant. He graduated in Economics from the Technical University of Lisbon’s School of Economic and Financial Sciences, and holds a PhD in Political Science and International Relations from NOVA University Lisbon. He served as Deputy Director-General of the Department of Forecasting and Planning. He is the author of extensive works and a lecturer in the areas of international economics, geopolitics and strategic outlook.

José Tavares

José Tavares

PhD in Economics from Harvard University, Full Professor at the Nova School of Business and Economics, and Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London. An expert in political economy, his research has been featured in Time magazine, the New York Times, Handelsblatt, La Repubblica and other publications. With Francesco Caselli and Mario Centeno, he co-organized the volume “After The Crisis: Reform, Recovery, and Growth in Europe”, and authored the essay “Europe Is Not a Foreign Country”.

Raquel Vaz-Pinto

Raquel Vaz-Pinto

Researcher at the Portuguese Institute of International Relations (IPRI) of NOVA University Lisbon and Guest Assistant Professor at this university’s Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. She is a consultant for the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. She is a member of the Executive Council of IDL – Amaro da Costa Institute and of the Lisbon Club, as well as the Advisory Board of the International Affairs Network and the Senior Board of the Our Europe, Citizenship Platform.
