The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is a private institution whose main purpose is to improve people’s quality of life through art, charity, science, and education. The Foundation carries out its activities from its headquarters in Lisbon, and from its branches in Paris and London.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum showcases one of the world’s most significant private art collections, amassed by Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian during his lifetime. Spanning five millennia, it features works from Ancient Egypt to the 20th century. Alongside its permanent collection, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions, guided tours, workshops, conferences, and other cultural activities.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum is seeking an Editing Assistant with Project Management Skills to join its team. This role involves supporting the development of various content types across multiple media formats, including collection catalogues, brochures, and exhibition materials. The successful candidate will ensure all content is properly prepared, edited, translated, and ready for production, meeting established deadlines and quality standards.

Contractual conditions: Permanent employment contract.

Main Responsibilities

Create or provide editorial support for publications and promotional materials, including texts, subtitles, leaflets, and catalogues, ensuring accessibility and public engagement.

Support the preparation of content for dissemination, including editing and reviewing texts for exhibitions and promotional materials, and organizing exhibition content folders.

Assist in the development of publication scripts alongside the Editing Project Manager and oversee the designer’s work on layout, ensuring accuracy and consistency in text content and coordination with other contributors.

Monitor the progress of publication projects, ensuring the completion of all stages to meet deadlines and quality standards.

Coordinate production activities, liaising with reviewers, designers, translators, and other collaborators to ensure the delivery of high-quality materials.

Edit and review original content for publications and exhibitions, send it for translation, and ensure validation by authors and contributors.

Manage administrative tasks such as forwarding budget proposals to the Secretariat, submitting internal payment requests, and facilitating communication between the payments department and service providers to ensure proper account closure.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Editorial Studies, Editing, Museology, or History of Art.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in similar roles.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Portuguese and English.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office tools.
